Elric Veil is a European writer of whom little is reliably known, which is how he prefers it. Raised among older languages, he gave his allegiance early to a younger one — English — and to the three masters who showed him what it could carry: the professor who built a world from philology and loss, the gentleman of the black sword who taught that every crown is a curse consented to, and the recluse who understood that the universe owes us neither malice nor mercy, only scale.
He writes at night, in a country he declines to name, in a tongue that is not his mother's. He believes the greatest literature in English was written by men dreaming past its borders — of Middle-earth, of Melniboné, of cities drowned before names — and that a writer's duty is to go where they pointed and report back.
